How can I make my English-default computer read Japanese programs?

I have a Windows Vista computer and the defualut language is English. So all the programs I have display roman characters. I installed a Japanese Real One player, and all i see is just weird characters. (Not actual Japanese characters) Is there a way, a program or a setting that helps me adjust my computer to clearly see the characters from the real one player program?

2. Have you installed the Japanese language pack? That could be the problem (no fonts to display the characters).
