- Yes, but it also depends on your own reading style. If, like me, you like to take everything in it will take longer than if you are more of a skim read person. There are ways to get quicker by learning to scan text for relevant information rather than read every word..
- Not reading but speaking frequently
- I was a slow learner in elementary school due to poor reading skills. I was put in front of a projector (1960) and shown small sentences to copy, then progressively longer sentences were used, then paragraphs and finally full pages. It worked for me. From failing school to honor roll student and avid reader (I killed Stephan Kings "The Stand" in 6 hrs when it came out) . The internet and computers make this easy. There are many online links for speed reading software. The linked source is a freeware version you can try.
- It depends on the person. I like to read slowly so I can take everything in, but even when I am reading slow I'm reading faster than others. There are courses you can take to become a speed reader, but this will not enhance the quality of a book. If anything it will be a waste of a good book. Here is a link to a free on-line speed reading course: http://www.mrkent.com/speedread/index.asp Hope this helps. =)
- Not necessarily. I read very fast (a book a day), so I read a lot of books (on average, 6 a week).
- I Think it can. It a hundred percent has for me. I first got into reading when I was 10 or 11, when my aunt bought me the first 4 Harry Potter books. It took me a several weeks to read the first one. since then I've become mad on books and I own several hundred. when the 7th book came out I read it within 6 hours!
- i think i've slowed down... but i don't mind... i enjoy them more [= x
