- Try listening to music - some people argue it will distract you, but if the music is at a low-enough volume, it might help distract you enough to 'get into the novel."
- Try to find a genre that interests you. That's the best way to do it. But if it's something you have to read (ie school work) try pretending you are one of the characters. That's how I got through a few novels in my lit class this semester.
- You must try to identify with the characters. Also it is interesting to think about what motivated the author to write what you are reading.
- hands down play music while reading (low volume tho) and dont be in a completely quiet enviorment ( persionaly i need well... destractions to stay focused LOL)
- Make sure you don't get outside interruption while reading. This includes people barging into your room, music on high volumes. It is better to read alone with your phone, pc/laptop turned off. Music on low is really up to the individual. Some finds it irritating. Be in a place of comfortable temperature, familiar surrounding and the likes. And of course, you have to concentrate.
- I use my imagination and when I read try to put faces with the characters. And try to see them acting out the dialogue and actions
- Imagination - try and picture the scene / people, etc. they are describing in your mind, not just the words.
- Everyone likes movies, right? Try to see the book as a movie replaying in your head.
- k tis book i'm about to suggest will make that happen, i felt like i was watching a moviw it was so good! k the book is called: Twilight by stephenie meyer
- I read storybooks with pictures. So the pictures keep me interested in the story :-) To make book reading more interesting, pick up some book which is about a subject that is quite close to your heart or which is your favorite. Check if you liked reading that book. If you do then gradually start exploring other options.
