Do Christian children after reading the bible, beg their parents not to stone them to death?

…or do children these days know that they are required to ignore certain parts of the bible?

  1. I think they have an index now, telling you what to skip over and disregard. Edit: You say it's based on the new testament...but you don't seem to mind quoting Leviticus 18:22 when there are homosexuals around. What about the Ten Commandments? You can't pick and choose.
  2. no, my nephew knows the bible and he's smart enough to understand it. he also understands that was apart of the Jewish law. he's only 6 and he reads the bible on his own. cant speak for people who are older than him though. he also understands the difference between the christian and Jewish faith. do you? LOL, don't let a 6 year old boy show you up.
  3. Jews were the ones who stoned.....thousands of years ago. Christians did not do this. We are not under the Old Testament law for JEWS. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stoning These are the offenses for which JEWS stoned others: Adultery (including an engaged woman having sex with a man other than her fiancé) (Deuteronomy 22:23-24) Having sex with animals ("bestiality") Engaging in idolatry or seducing others to do so Homosexual relations Breaking the Sabbath Cursing God If an ox gores a man or a woman to death, the ox shall surely be stoned and its flesh shall not be eaten; but the owner of the ox shall go unpunished. (Exodus 21-28) In addition, Deuteronomy (21,21) specifies that the parents of "a rebellious son" (בן סורר ומורה) may bring him to the market square and ask the townspeople to stone him to death. For touching Mount Sinai Exodus 19:13
  4. No they are literate enough to know that stoning is a part of the old law and they are under the new covenant.
  5. Yeah all that stuff about Jesus and love... **Is my Christian sarcasm getting lost on the folks here?
  6. George Washington's dad, Augustine, would thrash him if he forgot a verse from the Bible. He kicked truthfulness into the great leader.
  7. Some do.
  8. Most modern Christian children recognize that they are not living in pre-Christian Jewish society. They can study the norms of that ancient society without feeling threatened by it. Likewise I have not met a single Christian child who loses any sleep over the possibility of being fed to the lions, even though in another day and age they would have had good reason to.
  9. Christians are not under old testament law, why would you ask us?
  10. "Real"Christians do not take the primitive 'pagan' murderous parts of the Old Testament literally.
  11. Christianity is based on the New Testament, not the old.
  12. it is good for little chilldren to fear god, and the devil and evil and demons and snakes etc etc isnt it,, dont you understand it is for their own good
  13. I doubt very many are reading the Bible, thank goodness. The problem is, they're probably not reading much else, either.
  14. Only if their parents are religious fundamentalists who literally interpret the bible as the actual word of God. @batgirl "We are not under the Old Testament law for JEWS." I guess you've never heard of the Ten Commandments that apply to Christians as well. Nor have you heard that the bible is composed of both the Jewish Torah (the Old Testament) AND the New Testament. For those out there clamming the Old Testament is irrelevant. Jesus himself said d: "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law and the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them..." - meaning he wasn't challenging the beliefs/concepts of the Old Testament. The entire concept of Christianity is that Jesus was the Jewish messiah who had come to fullfill the Old Testament prophecy.
  15. as a one time christian i never begged to be stoned to death nor did the children that attended the church i went to. i believe that you may be misinformed.
  16. I can just see little Suzy standing there in front of her parents saying, "Please don't stone me to death; I'll be good, I promise!"
  17. I think they have more questions than they did in the first place, poor misguided children. Nobody should be tortured like that!
