how can i improve my reading and comprehension skills?

i have trouble reading things with big vocabulary and comprehending it and i want to read faster and better too how can i really improve this soon. i need to do well on the AP english test so i can get college credit

1. Copy down everything in the dictionary. Reading and Writing everything down will help you remember and comprehend it. Worked for Malcolm X.
2. while reading... use a ruler or something that blocks the lower part of that something you're reading. this helps because this gives you extra focus on what you are reading since you are actually reading only one line at a time. now be sure to have a dictionary or a computer which can pronounce a word entered. got it. hope this helps you. coz it did helped me.
3. Practice, Practice, Practice!. Find something you like and start reading!
4. Dictionary.com is a great resource. Make it a habit to write down/underline words you don't know. Let your human curiosity take over. When you look up the definition, try to actively use the new words until it's second nature to do so. The more you use them in your daily life, the more improvement you'll see in your articulation and communication.
5. "Word Power Made Easy" is a very good book. It's meant for those people who wants to improve on vocabulary and comprehension skills. I have learned a lot from this book. I suggest you must try it.
