  1. Try these two: Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep by Philip K. Dick A Brave New World by Alduous Huxley
  2. The lost boy a child called it
  3. i read this book just a few months ago... its called Twilight and it has a sequel called New Moon. they are the best fantasy books i have read yet. i think each book is around 450-500 pages. author... Stephenie Meyer hope this helps! these are GREAT books, and there is a third one coming out really soon.
  4. You should try my favorite author, Ted Dekker. Start with The Circle Trilogy: Black, Red and White. Or try his horror novel House (the movie is coming out this october!) which he co-authored with Frank Peretti. Dekker's latest novel, Skin, was his first New York Times Bestseller. Also, the graphic novel versions of The Circle Trilogy is coming out this november.
  5. well keeping fiction/fantasy in mind and adding a bit of satire to the mix, I would highly recomend Terry Pratchett. BEWARE THOUGH: if you read one of his books and don't like it. find another with DIFFERENT characters and you should find he is hilarious, I recomend all the ones with the wizards/the grim reaper in them (Soul Music, Reaper Man). they are my favorites. you should find that they are very reminiscent of the modern world.
  6. If you like aliens I suggest The Tripod series by John Christopher, White Mountains is the first book.
  7. The Earthsea Cycle by Ursala K LeGuin
  8. I am in the process of rediscovering Will Cather, and am surprised at how relevant her writing is now. She lived from the 1870s to 1947. Right now I am reading The Professor's House. It was written soon after World War I, and is about a professor and a favorite student of his who was killed in the war. The student's discovering of some Native American ancient ruins in New Mexico is fascinating. I also want to reread My Antonia and Sapphira and the Slave Girl.
  9. I think you should read the following: Uglies trilogy, The Midnighters trilogy, Eragon and Eldest, twilight, Inkheart and inkspell, and Peeps. This one is a little smaller but it is great..It is called the outsiders!
  10. Definitely Twilight by Stephenie Meyer, it is a series and is a bit of romance filled with suspense and action(actually it is a lot of romance:) but this book never gets boring and its sequel New Moon is even better!. There's also Blood and Chocolate which is awesome. The Pendragon series by D.J. MacHale is definitely a must read, it is filled with action and fun twists and turns. The Inheritance Trilogy by Christopher Paolini. Artemis Fowl is pretty good. Another awesome series is The Ranger's Apprentice. I've given you about every type of book I can possibly think of.
  11. I can recommend "House of the Scorpion" by Nancy Farmer and "Uglies" by Scott Westerfeld. They should be available at any public library. Have fun!

  13. It looks like you're getting a lot of good suggestions, here's another thought. If you're between 12 and 18 and into video games and best friends stories I think you might like my novel GAMEPLAYER: The Genesis Portal. GAMEPLAYER follows the adventures of Nine-dog, Gator and Louie; three racially diverse buddies growing up in the skateboarding, video gaming obsessed Santa Monica, California beach life-style. Their lives revolve around school, skateboarding and video gaming until a bizarre encounter with a run amok video game propels them into a deadly world of terror, murder and intrigue. It's available at the normal online sites like amazon, B&N, Borders, etc. and as an e-book on mobipocket.com. You can check it out further and read the prologue on my site www.myspace.com/gameplayerbook. Not meant as a commercial just another suggestion, Gary Anderson
  14. Since you like Harry Potter, I bet you would really like British author Jenny Nimmo's Children of the Red King Series (aka the Charlie Bone Books.) The main character, Charlie Bone, discovers that he is endowed with a magical talent (to converse with people inside photographs) and is sent to Bloor's Academy, a boarding school (they go home on weekends) for other endowed students as well as students with artistic, dramatic, or musical talents. Charlie makes both friends and enemies as he learns about and responds to the various schemes that are hatched at Bloor's. Little by little, Charlie discovers clues about the disappearance of his amazing father some ten years before. 1. Midnight for Charlie Bone 2. Charlie Bone and the Time Twister 3. Charlie Bone and the Invisible Boy 4. Charlie Bone and the Castle of Mirrors 5. Charlie Bone and the Hidden King 6. Charlie Bone and the Beast 7. Charlie Bone and the Gargoyles (Oct 2007) You may also enjoy Scholastic's The Grey Griffin Series by Derek Benz and J.S. Lewis. There are currently two books in the series. 1. The Revenge of the Shadow King 2.
