  2. Hey. I just started reading books myself, and I'm 21 too ;-) I just read ''The Righteous Men'' by Sam Bourne - great read, it'll have you totally into it and turning the pages as quickly as possible.

  4. I have answered this question so many times, I decided to dedicate a web site to answer this question. Here it is: http://www.life-after-harry-potter.com Included is a list of only the best sorcery fantasy books, grade reading level, and a short review of each book. I hope this helps. 6. Hello! Welcome to the wonderful world of reading! It is difficult to recommend books when you don't know someone but my best suggestion to you would be to go to your local library, join up and borrow as many books as you want (for free) and you'll get a great idea of what sort of things you like. Depending on the size of your library they might have all the different 'stories' seperated - crime, family stories, chick lit, romance, historical, spy, thrillers....... The genres really are endless!
  7. THE HARRY POTTER BOOKS RULE! TRY THEM!!
  8. oh baby. i could give you a huge list of suggestions. here are just a few of my favorites that might get you started-- if you love reading harry potter you'll like the twilight series, it's extremely easy reading (a little juvenile, but still good). they look really long but you can read it in like 2 days. fantastic story line. written by stephenie meyer there are 3 of them, twilight, new moon, and eclipse. enders game by orson scott card, also awesome. it's a sci fi but one of the better ones i've read. the giver by lois lowry (unbelievable story) those are all very fun reads, they all fall into the young adult category, which i love. i'm an english major and i've read all sorts of things, but i always go back to young adult lit for my "pleasure reads" because they're so fun.
  9. The 'Flowers in the Attic' books by Virginia Andrews are very gripping. Or Terry Pratchett if you like fantasy-type books. I could list a million others if I had the time lol. Good for you starting reading books anyway! I don't know the name of the one you described, sorry. Oh, and 'Children of Men' by PD James. I've not seen the film version, but the book was brilliant.
  10. If you 'loved' the Harry Potter series ( I did too), try Philip Pullman (If you read the 'His Dark Materials' series DO read them in order). I also love W M Thackeray, Emile .Zola and Graham Green, but wouldn't necessarily want to read them on a relaxing holiday. Honestly - go into a local library, pick up a dozen books (perhaps ones where the publicity 'blurb' on the back makes you interested) and read those that you can be bothered to - if you are not hooked 40 pages in, give up and try another.
  11. Light reading for holidays so you can spend some time having fun too. My partner and i love reading any of the Louise Renninson books- they are the diaries of Georgia Nicholson, not just for teenagers let me assure you- real good fun- a lot of laughing. What about some Terry Pratchett books? My boyfriend loves them.
  12. the giver by lois lowry and after that gathering blue by lois lowry and the messenger by lois lowry...and try anthony horrowitz...
  13. I agree with heather above, pay a visit to the local library where you can try out as many types of writers as you like and it wont cost a penny, if you like a certain book add it to your list of authors to read, and if you don't like a certain book then it hasn't cost you anything and you can put it down as a bad read and not bother with that author in future, anyway welcome to world of reading as you can tell by my name Ive read a book or two (thousand) and i started by getting them from the library until i sussed out which authors and style of book i preferred and now i buy them accordingly, good luck and enjoy.
  14. Try "Nick Twisp" by Cd Payne or any of the Jack Reacher series by Lee Child
  15. jane godleys handstands in the dark
  16. Okay, here's a list. Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer Enchantment by Orson Scott Card Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien Lirael, Sabriel, and Abhorsen by Garth Nix His Dark Materials Trilogy by Phillip Pullman When the Wind Blows by James Patterson The Lake House by James Patterson Bloody Jack by L. A. Meyer (This one is kind of juvenile, but the whole series are really good, even so.) Pirates by Celia Rees
