- you need to latch onto, or discover a writer that rings a bell with you. some books are stiff to read, while others are quite joyful and hard to put down. keep looking.
- Are family loves books, however you are reading on the computer right? Get some e-books? Go look up web sites and read there. Heck the computer is all reading.
- Try soft core porn. Women love that stuff and it could start you on a life long love of reading.
- i didn't like to read when i was 17. in fact i think a lot of 17 year olds don't like to read, you aren't the only one. Do your best to do well in school. Just think that all the hard work you do will build up to a great career.
- get audio books and listen to them while you do stuff.
- Try learning through videos and tapes at the library. Possibly you would be able to grasp the content better that way. How are your eyes, I mean do you have any vision problem? Also, when the time comes that you really are interested in a subject then you will find it very easy to concentrate and learn because the information just seems to stick with you when you have a real interest in the topic. Good luck. P.S. Don't worry too much about learning a lot of different things. Maybe you are supposed to sort of narrow in and become an expert at something different like math or art for instance.
- Hmm....Well, it's hard to force yourself to enjoy something that you don't. I enjoy reading, because words to me have such a powerful effect on my emotions, and my imagination is so vivid, that if something is written and described well, I can see the picture in my head. Of course, it's always more fun for me to read something that is fictional, as opposed to reading a text book. I don't know what you could do to enjoy reading more...Maybe you should really push yourself to read more. Sit down with a fun book of a topic you are interested in, and no matter how bored you get, push past the feeling. If you need to read the page many times to truly get what it's saying, then do so. If you really try hard, you may get into the book more than you think. It's like the beginnings in some movies. It starts out boring, and static, not really going anywhere, but if you are patient, the plot starts to develope more and more. But if you want to do well in class, you simply have to read. It may not be fun ,but you have to do it. Try reading your text books in short clumps. Maybe even a page at a time, soaking up all of the information. Maybe you'll learn to love reading..It really is a wonderful thing if you give it a chance!
- Twilight, New Moon, And eclipse are the top New York Bestsellers right now. I'm 17 and fidget/twitch when they aren't in my hands. They are all by Stephenie Meyer and quite frankly, I'm sure you've seen them around in school....go check out Twilight :]]] no way you cannot enjoy it
- There are audio books out there for people who don't like to read .. you can listen on your IPOD or during you go to sleep .. don't be discourage !!
- I have the same problem. Do you get tired and sleepy, easily distracted, forget what you have read shortly after reading? Do you have to push yourself to read? I want to learn too and can only do it in short steps when I can muster up the energy to stay awake. Late in life I found that I suffered from Attention deficit disorder. I am presently trying to find solution/help for this. I am so interested in so many things. It shouldn't be so hard for me. I understand there is good help available. Check with your doctor and the Internet for information on ADD and ADHD. I am hopeful.
- Most people dont like to read, especially teenagers. Even a great book isn't better than playing sports, or video games, or watching a movie in my opinion. You just have to force yourself to read. You say ok, if I really want to become smarter, ill have to read this book.
