- The following websites have invaluable information. http://www.readingrockets.org/teaching http://www.projectcriss.com/ http://www.thinkingmaps.com/ http://www.theschoolbell.com/Links/Dolch/Contents.html ..... the project criss site is more for training purposes. I took the training and thought it was out of this world. I also took the thinkingmaps training .... have only good things to say about it. The first website is more what you are looking for, I think.... but the last website is something I used with my ESOL and primary students. Hope this helps.
- Check your professional library at school...there should be plenty of resources available. Anything by Fountas and Pinnell (spelling?) is especially valuable. You did not mention what grade you teach, so I am assuming elementary??? I stayed at school very late 2 days in a row to print this stuff off which I have found very valuable and have used quite often: http://www.fcrr.org/forTeachers.htm Go to curriculum and instruction, the click grades K - 1, or 2 - 3, scroll to the bottom and you can print off book 1 and 2, or selected parts (Phonics, Phonemic Awareness, etc.) A very good book "Mosaic of Thought" http://www.readinglady.com/mosaic/tools/tools.htm http://www.teachingheart.net/comprehe.html http://www2.scholastic.com/browse/teach.jsp http://www.theteacherscorner.net/lesson-plans/reading/index.htm Have you checked into professional development opportunities offered by your school district?
