Why do Christians have a problem with their children reading/watching anything anti-Christian?
I'm black, and my parents made me read and watch things about the and the Confederates. How come you don't like your children reading and watching anything that's anti-Christian? I hope you guys aren't afraid that they'll change religions on you (: oops, meant the Ku Klux Klan.

- of course they are. christianity has been historically about coersion. think about the crusades. they fear that logical knowledge will be the downfall of their belief system. but i also believe that some are just too ignorant to question their beliefs or extend their research to alternate theories when they are young, and as they grow older and start to have doubts, it scares them that because of doubting their faith, they might end up in 'hell.' because of this, they do not want to learn anything that may make them doubt their faith or their childrens faith.
- They are afraid their children might start to think for themselves. Start exploring other options, and then abandon christianity.
- Plain and simple - Fear and more fear. They do not want any truths in their lives. And they talk about morality like they know where those little children actually get it from.
- They harbor fears that what they've taught their children isn't strong enough to keep them from believing something different. A bit ironic when they yammer on so much about how they're "saved" and have on the "armor of god."
- I'm not Christian, I was... I think that fear is a lot of it. Ever watch The Village? People have a set of beliefs, often those beliefs divide... Believer vs Non Believer... Believer = good Non Believer = not good Believer = heaven, eutopia, paradise Non Believer = hell, death And parents want their kids to have, to obtain that heaven or euptopia, and since many believe that the only way to get to that heaven is by being a believer, anything that threatens that line of thinking is shunned in favor of things that reaffirm their belief system...
- Why risk all those years of indoctrination and mind control?
- They are. They also want their children and grand-children to share the same heaven as them in the afterlife, not having some go to Christian heaven and others in the Elysian Fields. However, some just want conformity.
- I think Christian is to broad of a word. many of the ones scared are strict in religion. My family is christian and my parents don't ban me from watching something if it's antichristian. They believe that they have raised (and are still raising) me with enough know how to make my own decisions, and decide whether i believe something to be offensive (religion, race, sex, etc) or not. If parents have raised their child in a christian home, they should believ in their childs decision in believin g in the religion, or its 'enemies'. Plus, if this question is in response to the golden compass response, i dont think the age group it is intended for would quite be able to figure out the offensivness towards their religion
