How to improve reading and writing habits for 10 yrs old son? He is too lazy to read and write. Whenever he opens his books, he gets sleepy, gets hungry, go to washroom, etc... He is a very bright boy normally with A & A+. Still his reading habits are very poor and writes very very slow. That makes his grades down at times. We tried to motivate him, laid rules, but all failed. What is the solution for this? Thanks in Advance.
By what age have children formed the habit, or taken up the hobby, of reading fiction? Reading novels is a hobby - it's a thing some people do in their spare time. I'd like to know if this can be established at any age, or if it usually at forms at some early age and much more rarely at a later one - and if so, what age? And in particular, at what age would attempts to encourage the reading of fiction become a waste of time? Any sources or statistics would be welcome.

How can I develop an interest to reading? Specifically, those readng materials related to my work and studies? It's not that I am not really into reading. As a matter of fact, i enjoy reading paperbacks done by Steel, Sheldon and Grisham. I also like reading fashion magazines or any magazines with lots of different informations. But I noticed that I find it difficult to finish reading materials related to my job (I am an Information Analyst in a Electricity Industry), and those that are related to my studies (I am taking Master in Educational Management). I realized that perhaps something is wrong with my reading habit, and I would really appreciate if you could give some answers to end my dilemma.

Is reading a good habit? It is said that people don´t read enough. Not a lot of people read. Some blame the system, but I think the school is just a complement .Reading should start at home,by making the children get into it,reading tales, sitting them down on our laps and enjoying a good book together. A book is much more than just an object left on the shelves full of dust. We have to teach our children the habit of reading, observing, feeling and living the books.Reading should be a human necesity, such as laughing or dreaming.I recommend it as it´s a fountain of knowledge and pleasure. (Excuse my mistakes,English isn´t my spoken language) Any thoughts about this subject? Can you tell me your age when you answer, and also your nationality? Thanks!
