Can anyone tell me which is the better product of the speed reading programs? The speed reading programs that I am talking about is Eye Q, Speed Read and Ace Reader. Which reading program do you think is the better product . I know Eye Q probably doesn't have RSVP technology incorporated in it.

What do you think of High School Summer Reading Programs? Seriously, why do we have to waste our summer reading school books when we are supposed to be enjoying summer? Some of them are good but only a selection of 5 and we have to read 2 of them? :P
What reading programs are used to teach elementary schoolers nowadays? In the 80's, children learned to read using BASAL (Basic Aquisition of Language). In the 90's, BASAL was replaces by Whole Language, which is now obsolete as well. What is used today? Did schools go back to BASAL after Whole Language become obsolete, or do they use something else now? Oops, I meant to say BASAL was replaced, not replaces.

Best reading program for a six year old boy? I have a son entering 1st grade that cannot read yet. He loves math-can add, subtract, and multiply (a little). His teacher last year was not worried about his lack of reading skills, but his new 1st grade teacher is freaked out. He understands the letters and has great phenomic awareness. He just gets frustrated and irritated when I try to get him to work on it. I need something fun and interesting. My son is bilingual, I don't know if that makes a difference. Here in the public schools students not reading at the end of K are held back. No Child Left Behind at work. Oh the irony. This is why he doesn't go to a public school. His 1st grade teacher is freaked b/c she has 1st-6th grade in one classroom, about 6-8 students. The school environment is actually the perfect environment for him (at least it was last year). This way each child works on their level for each subject-not some forced grade level. Our old teacher retired and a new one has just came in. He started in the public school but the teachers mocked him for being bilingual and biracial and for our denominational affiliation. They used words like "stupid to speak ___________" and were constantly trying to get him to eat pork (which we don't eat). So going back isn't really an option.
Are there any other reading incentive programs for middle schoolers like book it? I teach middle school language arts and am looking for a reading incentive program for my 7th and 8th graders. I know that Pizza Hut has a book it program, but that only goes up to 6th grade. Does anyone know of any other programs? If you do it would be very helpful because I find that reading declines the most at this age.

What is the best way of taking notes when reading a long textbook? I'm reading a five textbooks for an exam. It's a self-study program. Do you read the section first and then take notes? Is it okay to take notes on a Word document or is it best to use notebooks and paper? I have to read a lot of books and take a lot of notes. Teachers- Can you recommend a cheap reading program for high school student who needs to increase levels? I am a SPED teacher and need help with high school reading. I have two students, 10th and 12th, who read on a 3rd grade level. I am looking for material to use so that I can increase their levels. I only get about $100 to buy needed materials. Does anyone have experience with the Wilson Reading Program? I am being trained this summer to implement the Wilson Reading Program into my classroom. Has anyone had any experience using this program with students? I will be teaching high school students with moderate to severe developmental and learning disabilities, but I'd like to hear about experiences with any age group. what are some free online reading games and programs for a struggling 2nd grader? My son is 8 years old and he is having a tough time reading and spelling he gets frustrated easily and than he just gives up. I have tried everything but at the end it just seems as though I am giving him the answers. I went to his parent teacher conference for this marking period an he is doing very poorly in these areas. He has been left behind in the first grade for the same problems and I don't want to see this happen to him again. The thing that bothers me the most is that he gives the video games 100% effort and if he could just apply the same efforts to reading I am sure he will be a success!! I have stripped his game privlages from during the weekday and limited television to one hour per day is this too harsh on him I will be allowing him the use of the computer to play certain games pretaining to his problem areas. What are some good books for summer reading? My daughter is an incoming 2nd grader, she is an excellent reader. We have a summer reading program at our church as well as our public library. I would like to get her to read some books that may take her up to 2 weeks to read, by reading everyday for 30 or so minutes. But I'm not sure which books are appropriate for her grade level. I don't want her to check out something that is too long that she will get frustrated and bored, but not something so short that she will be done in a couple of days.
How do you make your child get interested in reading? I have a 9y/o boy who is not into academics. He does well in science and math but the major issue is reading comprehension. I've invested in interesting books in his level,magazines, etc. I've signed him up to an expesive reading program but no change. He still dislikes reading. Comprehension is another story. I subscribed to kids National Geographic magazine but he didn't like it I had to cancel. He prefers Nikolodeon mags which he's not going to get. When its reading time, everything hurts (his head hurts, his stomach hurts...all are just made up) and he's sleepy. But once I turn on the TV just to test him, he perks up! I have been watching, reading physical fitness programs of genuine instructors. why tall claims about yoga? Especially Ram Dev's claims and instructions, people are over enthusiastic and doing whichever way they like. Any one with an average knowledge of health will understand the mistakes. There should be specific precaution for every asanas to be taken based on health and age factors. Some asanas are totally prohibited for those above 40. Even exercises should be started as advised by your physician and a physical fitness trainer. How government is allowing all quakes to preach and practice yoga ?

Reading program called Super Friends in 1985 or so? I used a reading program in my small private school in 1985 or so in kindergarten called super friends or something like that. kids reading program? what is the best reading program for a 6 year old
Does anyone here know where to find Alphabet Blocks and Beginning Reading (Old win 3.1 programs) ...? to use with Windows XP? They were made by Sierra -- Bright Star Technology, Inc several years ago. I have used a number of beginning reader programs with my kids and they just aren't as well suited to actual use by a young child. These two programs were excellent. I have the original disks, but I am looking for something that I can use with our present family computer -- which happens to be Windows XP. Please help me find a source for these older programs. Thank you to all Answerers who can help with this. Doesn't anyone ever update these old programs? It's a shame to let them become obsolete. Some of these games were classics. What about Lode Runner? That was originally for Commodore 64. I know it was updated for use on Windows (x vers). Any ideas? Is there no way to update and/or run an old program?

Is reading program for 2 to 3 year old, good or bad ? Hello parents, I sent my daughter for reading program, Vital Years since she was 2. It has been a year now. Though she read but the progress is very slow and she can't read the simple books. I wonder whether she has to know her ABCs first, learn to spell and finally learn to read. I taught her ABCs by myself and she recognise them but can't spell yet.

Reading Program...
